VOLUNTEER WITH MMM

Use your skills to serve others

MMM South Africa is passionate about connecting the right skills with the right project—both locally in South Africa and internationally.

Ministries, NGOs, churches, schools, hospitals and other faith-based organisations often have important facilities, infrastructure and technical projects to undertake, but may not have access to all the professional expertise they need.

That's where skilled volunteers can make a practical difference.

If you are a design professional, engineer, project specialist, technical professional, artisan or other experienced specialist, you could help an organisation make sound technical decisions, plan well and avoid costly mistakes — allowing them to get on with the work that is their priority: serving their communities.

What skills are we looking for?

Volunteer opportunities can vary depending on the needs of each project. Some areas where specialist input may be needed include:

Architecture & design

Engineering

Construction & building

Electrical & energy

Water & infrastructure

IT & communications

Audio-visual systems

Project management

Facilities & maintenance

Technical review & advice

More about getting involved

Volunteer opportunities can vary depending on the needs of each project. Areas where specialist input may be needed include:

  • Architecture & design — architectural design, space planning, masterplanning and concept development
  • Engineering — civil, structural, electrical and other engineering disciplines
  • Construction & building — building assessments, construction advice and site support
  • Electrical & energy — electrical infrastructure, solar, energy efficiency and backup power
  • Water & infrastructure — water supply, plumbing, sanitation and infrastructure planning
  • IT & communications — networks, connectivity, IT infrastructure and systems
  • Audio-visual systems — sound, visual and communication systems
  • Project management — planning, coordination, budgeting, procurement and implementation
  • Facilities & maintenance — maintenance planning, asset management and building care
  • Technical review & advice — reviewing plans, proposals, quotations or technical solutions

This is not an exhaustive list. If you have specialist skills or experience that could help a ministry or organisation serve more effectively, we would still like to hear from you.

Your involvement could be as simple as providing professional advice on a particular question, or as involved as contributing to a project from planning through to implementation.

Depending on the project, you might:

    • Review a plan, proposal or technical solution.
    • Advise an organisation on its options and help them make an informed decision.
    • Plan or contribute to a masterplan, feasibility study or project scope.
    • Assess an existing building, system or piece of infrastructure.
    • Coordinate with other professionals and specialists.
    • Visit a site to provide technical input or assessment.
    • Support implementation through project oversight or technical review.
    • Some opportunities may be a once-off contribution; others may be longer term.

We will aim to match your skills and availability with projects where they can be genuinely useful.

If you have the skills and abilities to contribute, and a passion for serving ministries and organisations making a practical difference, we’d love to hear from you.

You don’t need to know exactly where you would fit. Tell us about your professional experience, areas of expertise and the kind of involvement you could offer, and we’ll look for opportunities where your skills could be a good match.

Your expertise could help an organisation do what it exists to do.
