Building spaces that strengthen ministry
MMM South Africa is a faith-based organisation that provides technical consultation, practical project support and access to specialist expertise for organisations serving others. We work alongside ministries and mission-driven institutions to help them plan wisely, build carefully and steward resources responsibly.

Using our skills to serve His mission
Mission work is not limited to preaching, teaching or healthcare. Architects, engineers, designers, project managers, technical specialists and skilled artisans can all use their experience to strengthen the organisations sharing the Gospel and serving communities around the world.
Whatever your area of expertise, we believe the gifts God has given you can be used to serve others and further His work.
Our mission is to connect these skills with practical needs, helping Christian ministries plan, design, build, renovate and maintain the facilities and infrastructure that support their work.
- By contributing professional knowledge, practical experience or technical expertise, our volunteers help ministries make wise decisions, steward their resources responsibly and create facilities that are safe, appropriate and fit for purpose.
- Serving with MMM is also an opportunity to work alongside people committed to Christian mission, build meaningful relationships and see first-hand how your skills can contribute to something greater.
Our Story
It started in Australia in 1975 with a simple idea: use practical, hands-on skills to support missionaries and Christian ministries in the work God had called them to do.
More than five decades later, that same vision continues around the world. Built on a foundation of faith and trust in God, MMM brings together volunteers with practical and professional expertise—from planning and design to construction, maintenance and project support—to strengthen Christian ministries and help them focus on their mission.
MMM South Africa grew from this shared vision, formally establishing a centre in East London in 2008. Today, we continue to connect willing hands, skilled people and practical resources with ministries that need them.
Key Milestones
Where it began
A roadside breakdown sparked an idea: what if tradespeople and practical volunteers could use their skills to support Christian missionaries? In August 1975, Mobile Mission Maintenance—now MMM International—was born.
Beyond Australia
MMM soon crossed borders, beginning with a project in Papua New Guinea in 1977 and expanding to serve Christian ministries across several countries.
A growing international family
As MMM grew, centres were established around the world, united by one purpose: using practical skills to strengthen Christian ministry.
The South African connection
A significant South African connection began in 2003 when MMM personnel aboard the Doulos connected with First City Baptist Church in East London, leading to Australian teams serving on local projects.
MMM South Africa
MMM formally established a centre in East London in 2008. In 2014, MMM International (South Africa) became an official Associate Member of the MMM International Alliance.
The same heart of service
The heart of MMM remains simple: people using the skills God has given them to strengthen the work of the Gospel.
